EDUCATION
Mosaic Career Fairs 2007—Last year,
roughly 300 college students from across the nation participated in
one or more of the three Mosaic Career Fairs, sponsored by Gannett and
USA TODAY, the Walt Disney Company and BellSouth. Participants were
given the opportunity to attend career development workshops and
panel discussions, have their résumés and portfolios critiqued by
industry professionals and network with recruiters representing 50
of the top advertising, marketing and media companies in the
country. According to a survey of recruiters who attended the 2006
Career Fairs, approximately 67 percent of respondents reported
success in filling internship and/or full-time positions as a result
of the 2006 Mosaic Career Fairs.
The 2007 Mosaic Career
Fairs expect to see even greater success: — March 8, 2007:
Gannett/USA TODAY, Gannett/USA TODAY Headquarters, McLean,
Va. — April 19, 2007: The Walt Disney Company, Sheraton
Hotel, Universal City, Calif. — Date TBD: Leo Burnett,
Venue TBD, Chicago, Ill.

Most Promising Minority Students Program
2007—The Most Promising Minority Students Program
connects the advertising industry with the nation's most talented
young minority students. Each year, college seniors are nominated by
their AAF college chapter advisers or AAF club/federation in
recognition of their passion for advertising and outstanding
achievements both in and outside the classroom. The Most Promising
event is not only a chance to honor these students, but also a
chance for them to learn more about their field of interest through
career development workshops, networking, interviewing and industry
immersion opportunities. Last year's 51 Most Promising Students
marked the 10th anniversary for the program and a 60 percent
increase in just the past two years.
This year's event will
be held February 6–8, 2007, at the New York Athletic Club in
Manhattan.
For more information or questions regarding the
Most Promising Program, please contact Andrea Burnside at aburnside@aaf.org or (800)

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
American Advertising
Federation Teams Up With PE4life to Fight Childhood Obesity
PE4life's Exemplary Physical Education Programs Build
Healthier, More Active Schoolchildren— The AAF and PE4life, the nation's leading advocate for
quality health-and-fitness-based physical education programs, have
joined forces to increase awareness of the growing childhood obesity
problem in the United States and to multiply the number of children
living an active, healthy lifestyle.
The PE4life approach to
physical education-school-based daily physical education programs
that focus on lifetime physical activity, fitness and wellness-is
working. For example, students at PE4life Academies are scoring
consistently higher than the norm on standardized fitness
assessments versus their peers. In two critical categories, "aerobic
capacity" and "body composition," the PE4life students' scores have
been significantly higher than their peers in non-PE4life physical
education programs.
AAF's Ad 2 members are assisting PE4Life by
developing marketing plans to promote PE4Life programs and academies
in local communities. Ad 2 is a national network of local
advertising federations whose members are age 32 and younger and
give young professionals a chance to interact with their peers.
